Beautifully situated among green hills and blue lakes, you will find Holmen Gård. It has existed for over two hundred years, and has been a warm household for many generations. Far away from traffic and busy streets, you will find a piece of history, tradition and folklore.

Holmen Gård has much to offer, and it is only your imagination that sets the limits. You can go fishing and hunting, or maybe you prefer a quiet night enjoying a delicious meal and some excellent wine, in the company of good friends. The beautiful surroundings also invite you for hiking activities, and there are many trails to choose from. And if you want to stay over, we have 36 inviting rooms, where some of them hide ancient history..

On the menu you will find home cooked meals with only the best ingredients, and we gladly compose a menu of your choice. Maybe we can tempt you with fresh trout filled with delicious stuffing or tender elk beef from the local forest, followed by homemade caramel pudding? A nice cup of espresso and a slice of our chocolate confectionery cake? The choice is yours.

We also arrange almost all kinds of gatherings, such as weddings, anniversaries, concerts and conferences. There are a number of rooms with individual qualities, and the choice depends on what the occasion requires.

Where and how to get there?

Holmen Gård is located in Gjerstad, which is in the South of Norway. If you are driving, follow the E-18. About 15 minutes from Kragerø and 10 minutes from Risør, you will reach a crossroad with the sign “Gjerstad”. Follow the sign and the main road for about 12 km. You will then see Holmen Gård on your left hand side, 100 metres from the road. You can also go by train or bus from Oslo and Kristiansand.
